Matt Hess was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He is seeking a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of North Florida while currently attending Florida Community College of Jacksonville. Matt has been a professional photographer for 12 years, including 6 years in stock photography with Super Stock. He attributes his passion for photography to Professor Mark Sablow of FCCJ. Matt’s work has
won him numerous Best in Show and First Place awards and can be seen on multiple CD cases, books, brochures, magazines and roadside billboards. Matt’s photographs have been sold around the world.
He is a self-taught flameworker who has been blowing glass for over 5 years. He has taken workshops with master level flameworkers, Robert A. Mickelson and Steve Sizelove. He has worked on some award winning collaborations with the local flameworking studio Lucid Visions Glass Art. He is working on getting his glass showcased in local galleries.
On 9-9-06 Tanner and Matt were married on the beach with their dog Sasha. They really enjoy working on collaboration projects together. Combining their glass and pottery to make unique one of a kind items.
Matt, love your photographs, still laughing over the mermaid...reminds of when I was a photographer 20 years ago and I had the idea of a pretty lady washing with emeralds...well, we had the raw emeralds, the baby pool with the pretty lady kneeling in it....and the hose hanging through the trees...how many times we had to pick all the emeralds up and do it again I cannot remember...! Turned into a great picture, however!
I am on here as a graphic designer, but your pictures are so wonderful and I can just imagine you shooting each picture...jeez, I might have to buy a camera!
